Basel
Had to say goodbye to Basel today. He was a special dog and we’re so lucky to have had him for 7 years.

Ben
“ My sweet boy, Ben, went to rainbow bridge Thursday. The day I adopted Ben from Rose’s Rescue will forever go down as one of the best days of my life. He was 5 years old, about to turn 6. A 90lb, rott/lab mix who was intimidating in looks and sound, but the most gentle giant in spirit.   I adopted him on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016. It was tough sometimes because he had advanced hip dysplasia so I had to stay on top of his medications; he started out with 8.5 pills a day. Financially, there were some tough months. I often didn’t have much money to spare, but his well-being, comfort, and happiness always, ALWAYS came first. He became by protector, my best bud, the source of so many laughs, and provided me with countless precious memories.   He loved his toys. Specifically his blanket, nyla-bones, and rope (in that order). He loved to play tug of war with his rope, chew on/lay with his blanket, ...and straight up GNAW on the nyla bone for what seemed like hours.   When he decided it was his bedtime, he would get off the couch, take his blanket into the room, jump on the bed and fall asleep waiting for me. Of course he slept diagonally, so I always contorted my body to fit around his which resulted in many semi uncomfortable nights, but I always gave him a kiss and said goodnight before bed.   When he wasn’t chasing squirrels, he was laying alert in the yard looking for squirrels. I never needed a fly swatter because he would chase them around the house and eat them. He always howled at sirens. He loved dog burgers from Swensons. He loved going to my mom and dad’s multiple times a week for “daycare”...when we pulled into their driveway his tail would immediately start wagging. He got sooo excited when I said “wanna go?!” which meant we were either going on a ride or on a walk at Lion’s Park or Goodyear. He also didn’t realize how big he was....if you sat on the floor, Ben sat on you; blanket in mouth.   Along with the obvious things, I will miss all the small things like the sound of pouring his food in his bowl in the morning and the sound of him drinking water (which could be heard from any room in the house). I’ll miss his brown markings and the black spots on his tounge. I’ll miss calling him alllll the crazy nicknames I came up with throughout the years. I’ll miss the way he was in tune with my emotions and would stay extra close to me any time I cried. And I’ll most definitely miss the way his sweet soft ears would perk up everytime I said “good boy” and the way his tail started wagging the second he woke up in the morning. He was my sweet happy boy. Out of his 10.5 years, I was blessed to be his mom for 4.5 of them. I’m so thankful to Rose’s Rescue. This sweet boy changed my life and will live in my heart forever.  ?￰゚ヨᄂ? 11/18/10 - 4/22/21”

Birdie
On January 9, 2023 my sweet Birdie gained her angel wings at the age of 16+. She deserves a proper memorial on Roses Rescue page because this is where her journey began with the compassion of an amazing foster mom that said yes to this frail scared senior sitting in doggy jail. Now that she is home with me in spirit, I am going to do my best to give her a proper memorial that represents a small window into our time together. Birdie was not your typical small dog, she didn’t enjoy sitting on my lap and wasn’t needy of constant attention, although she would tolerate my daily human forms of affection. We understood each other, she enjoyed me from her eyes and those brown marble eyes were laser focused on my movements. Wherever I was in the house or outside Birdie was my beautiful shadow, even when her hearing started to fail her and her mobility to get up and down the stairs got more difficult, somehow, she always found her way to me. When I departed for work in the morning we would hug good-bye, I would give her some random house instructions, and she could then finally take a proper nap in her heated bed. In the evenings she enjoyed her slow walks around the neighborhood and always made sure to get her daily steps making sure the backyard did not have any unwelcomed smells. I say slow walks, but her lesson to me is patience, she always made time to stop and smell the flowers. Birdie was always up for a long or short road trip. She was my ride or die partner, so much that she even had her own elevated booster seat so she could look out the window and enjoy the cool wind blowing her scruffy hair. I like to think she really enjoyed all the music I played in the car, she never complained. Sadly, Birdie didn’t have the best of health but I made sure she had access to a superior medical team. Despite her diagnosis, that included routine x-rays and bloodwork, we were able to dial in her daily meds that helped her for so many years. Birdie was not always thrilled about a healthy diet, she did however love junk food and cheetos and frosted flakes were worthy of showing off her soft skills, specifically begging. I also learned that beef baby food was her favorite and one jar was the perfect snack. I know I rescued Birdie but she honestly rescued me. Every day I think of her and miss our routine but the basic emptiness of her not being in one of her beds, hurts the most. Run like the wind sweet girl, you are whole again and meet me at the fabulous Rainbow Bridge so we can start part two of our journey together. Roses Rescue Note: Birdie was adopted from Roses with the name Channel

Bizzie
Bizzie came to us in 2017, and today she left us for the rainbow bridge. Her personality was as big as her body and her heart. We are grateful for the unconditional love, wet kisses, and drool she shared with us. We are devastated. We are grateful to all at Rose’s Rescue that take chances on the dogs that humans have failed. Without you, we never would have had the opportunity to have been loved by our goofy girl.

Blackie
Unfortunately, less than one week before Christmas, Blackie crossed over the rainbow bridge.  We adopted Blackie from the rescue back in 2017, at the ripe old age of 16.  We knew we could give him a good “retirement” home and have a positive impact on his quality of life.  Little did we know the impact he would have on us.  Blackie loved napping around the house, randomly picking and rotating his preferred napping spot.  He greeted and made friends with everyone who came to visit.  He also enjoyed the car rides to Starbucks and the ice cream stand.  I’m sure he is one of the few cats to meet the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus in the same year!  He’s gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.  Thanks so much.
