Sad Chihuahua, that was the name under my mug shot at the dog pound! I was very thin and my nails were curled into my paw pads but all that is behind me now. I have a name and a foster home and I'm not so sad. My name is  Pokey,  I  am  definitely over 10 years old and weigh about 10 lbs. I just got neutered and had a dental procedure, am heartworm negative and caught up on all my vaccinations.  I do have a heart murmur but do not require any medications and came through my surgery with flying colors. I am in the beginning stages of kidney failure and will not get better so I will not be with you for a long time. Note from foster mom:  Pokey is a very easy dog to care for, he has his eye on me always just to make sure he doesn't get left again. He is  house broken, gets along with the other small dogs and the cat. He does have a Chihuahua attitude, does not like to be picked up and screams if you do something, like clean his ears or try to put a sweater on him. He is crate trained but does not like it and can reliably be left out without causing any trouble. While he is not a lap dog, he enjoys being petted and just wants to be near you. With time an patience he may get over some of these fears as I see an improvement in him now that he is more secure and feeling better. A quiet home without small children would be an ideal situation for him. All of his medical records will be available to anyone who can offer him a loving home for the time he has left. I would recommend that you speak to your veterinarian about kidney failure in dogs before  considering an adoption. The plan at this time is to repeat his lab work in 4-6 months or sooner if he becomes symptomatic. No medications, he is on a diet of Honest Kitchen dog food and a fish oil supplement and CBD oil.
