WELCOME

Rose's Rescue is 501c3 non-profit all-breed rescue run by a small group of volunteers. We primarily focus on local pound rescues because we feel these are the animals in the most dire need of a second chance.

We are committed to educating the public on the importance of spay and neuter, routine vaccinations, heartworm protection, and aids and leukemia testing for cats.

Events

EVENT was cancelled due to WEATHER.  Please come and see us next Saturday.

We will be holding our final adoption event in conjunction with the Pet Supermarket in Stow on Saturday, February 13th from 1 to 4.  Sadly, this store is slated for closing later in the month, so we must find a new location for future outings.  Manager Dave and his entire staff have been wonderful hosts to us over the last year or so, and have been very supportive of our efforts.  We will miss our association with them as they have become great friends!  So come out and meet some of our adoptables and wish Dave and his staff well in their future endeavors.  You can also pick up a great bargain or two while you’re there by taking advantage of the huge storewide clearance sale!   Pet Supermarket is located at 4286 Kent Rd in the Giant Eagle/Target shopping center

Our 4th Annual Rose's Rescue Reunion was an OUTSTANDING SUCESS!!!!! Thank you to everyone that came out to support Rose's Rescue. We simply could not do it without our volutneers and all of our supporters.

A huge thank you to Maurice’s Clothing store in Stow who has been raising money and collecting donations for us the entire month of October.  They’re located near Kohl’s in the Giant Eagle/Target shopping center in Stow.  Stop by Maurices’s, the “leading small town specialty store and authority for the savvy, fashion conscious customer with a twenty-something attitude” and show them your support!

Our Guardian Angel, Helen, for an extremely generous donation towards the raising of a quarantine barn and other remodeling.

Prison Cell Dog Program up and running.

Ravenna American Legion for the donation from their bingo fund.

Prison Program
Every two months, Rose’s Rescue chooses a few special candidates for a new class of dogs to be trained at the Trumbull Correctional Institution near Warren, Ohio.  While enrolled in this program, each dog will be trained by selected inmates and overseen by professional dog trainer Bill Oliver (www.customcaninecompany.com) who generously volunteers his time with this laudable project.  Upon completion of their training, cell dogs will have learned important socialization skills, have mastered basic obedience commands, and be fully housebroken.  They will also be taught tricks to entertain their future families and friends, such as sitting pretty, playing dead, and give a high five.  All dogs can be visited (by appointment and accompanied by a Rose’s Rescue representative) while at the prison.  They can be adopted upon graduation, or occasionally sooner if a dog has done exceptionally well and is deemed ready to leave before the class is actually finished.  All of our current cell dogs or graduates are designated as such in their individual descriptions in the “Our Adoptables” section of this website.  If you’d like to get a jump-start on training your new pet, consider adopting a Rose’s Rescue cell dog!

FEATURED PET

Emily

Meet our Emily…

Emily was rescued from the local pound along with her sister Charlotte.  Charlotte was adopted right away but Emily was not so fortunate, so we gave her a spot in the cell dog program.   While there, she has become one of the best trained dogs they’ve ever had.  She’s been a superb learner of all her commands and now really knows her stuff!  However, she also has learned to be very loyal and even protective of her person – not a bad thing in some circumstances but not the best trait for active families with youngsters who come and go all the time.  She also would prefer not to compete with other canines for her owner’s attention and cannot go to a home with cats.  Emily is a pretty big dog and is likely mostly lab and shepherd.  She is still young – probably not quite two years old, and has a thick, rich dark coat with beautiful brindle highlights.   Emily really needs and deserves to find her forever home soon as she has been waiting such a long time to find it!  If you have a home without kids or other pets and are looking for a well-trained dog that will be loyal to the core, than Emily is your girl.

SPECIAL THANKS

Rose’s Rescue would like to thank and acknowledge the longstanding support of Dr. Tiffany Drach, and the rest of the staff at Boston Heights Veterinary Hospital.   Whether it is getting our dogs spayed and neutered, treated for heartworm, helping save a litter of puppies exposed to parvovirus, or seeing to any of the other countless exams, medications, and surgeries they require, Dr. Tiffany, Dr. Glenn, and their caring staff are always there for us.   Without their kind and generous assistance, we could never afford to save the countless dogs (and a few cats) that we do, week after week, year after year, and to see that these animals always get the medical care they need. We truly could not do this without them.

Thank you to Shaggy-doo Dog Grooming for complimentary groomings.  Our dogs have never looked better!

Thank you to Bruce, owner of Handel's Ice Cream in Stow, for giving all new adopters a pint of their homemade ice cream.  Be sure to ask for your coupon!
