Meet Skunk! Skunk came to the rescue in a terrible state and has since recovered (mainly). Skunk is now 6 months old. His birthdays is estimated to be around May 1st 2023. Currently, Skunk has Calicivirus and Mycoplasma that’s was running rampant in his system. He went through month of antibiotics and was left with a residual congestion and some boogers in his nose. He received a respiratory panel and was on an antibiotic for a month. It was ineffective, so we’re trying another for 6 weeks. It’s super simple to give once every 3 days and he takes it well. The rescue will be responsible for all vetting related to this condition until it’s resolved. If you have other cats, this condition will not spread to them. He’s been exposed to many and everyone has been completely fine.
To tell you a little about Skunk, he’s certainly one in a million. From day one his foster mom knew he was the most special little boy. So sick, so weak, but still so eager to give love and just be with his person. Since he’s mostly recovered, Skunk is a moderately active young man. He really appreciates play time especially with worms or feathers on fishing poles or his big plushy toys he likes to carry around and hide. When you come in the room, Skunk is always there to greet you. He’s sure to look at you and scream as if to say “I’m so happy you’re here!” He’ll follow you around until you put your focus on him and give him some good scritches and love. Skunk appreciates being held and carried around too, but not for too long. He more so likes when you’re sitting on the couch or floor and he can just come lay in your lap for a while or crawl all over you and sniff.
Skunk is a VERY social, VERY outgoing young man. He’s been friends with everyone he has met and only takes a few minutes to warm up. We’ve been able to bounce him back and forth between foster homes too based off of who we home more because he’s so adaptable. He so quickly adjusts to new people and new environments. Not to mention new animals. He is absolutely unfazed by other cats and loves to spend time with them. He appreciates snuggling other cats, playing with them, and even eating with them. Speaking of which, dinner time with wet food is Skunk’s favorite time of day. He gets so excited and so eager for his delicious food.
