Indy
n 2009 we adopted, from Rosa's Rescue, a Cairn Terrier named Indy. I don't know if any of your present staff would remember him. I recall that his foster mother's name was Kathy. And, I think the person I dealt with at Rosa's was also Kathy. Not sure. Anyway, Indy was the most unusual dog we have ever had. He didn't like us much; He had no desire to please us. He wouldn't even stay in the same room with us. And, absolutely, would not come when called. He ran away at every opportunity. He became known as Houdini in our neighborhood. The most frustrating dog I ever had. I even consulted a behaviorist to get advice. I was close to asking Rosa's to take him back. However, we all hung in there. Eventually, we took in our granddaughter's dog. A sweet little Yorkie mix. That totally changed Indy's attitude toward us. He was competing for our attention. We couldn't believe it. Well, the good news is that he learned to coexist with us and actually bonded as much as his independent streak would allow. We came to love him and enjoy his unique personality. This past November, he became ill and we knew that he didn't have much time left. We took him to Florida with us but his condition just grew worse. We took him to a compassionate vet who confirmed that it was time to say good-bye. We tearfully did so. If there is anyone on staff who remembers Indy (short for Independent) I just wanted you to know how much we loved him and appreciated that funny, unusual little pup.

I'm not sure if you remember me, but I adopted Diego from you 10+ years ago. I am emailing you with a tremendous heavy heart to let you know Diego passed away yesterday. He lost his battle with lung cancer. Our family is extremely heartbroken. He truly was an amazing dog. He was so full of personality and he filled our home with so much love and joy. Thank you for letting us adopt him all those years ago. He truly was a member of our family and it is going to take our hearts a long time to heal. I have attached a photo of Diego that was taken this past week.
