Theodore is what rescue is all about.  We found him at the pound, hair missing over half of his body.  Volunteers said that he came in covered in fleas, matted, and nails horribly overgrown.  They treated his fleas and cleaned him up as best they could but he looked so bad that it was doubtful anyone would adopt him.  Despite being rid of his fleas, he still scratched incessantly and his skin emitted a bad odor.  He immediately became a Rose's Rescue dog.

Our vet diagnosed him with a severe flea allergy and put him on medication and gave us a medicated shampoo.  In only a day, his itchiness subsided and so did his smelly skin.  He has a bit of kennel cough, he will need neutered along with a couple of teeth pulled.  But his coat should grow back and we are confident he will again be the handsome boy he once was before falling on such desparate times.  

Theodore has a wonderful personality.  Like many small dogs, he can be feisty if he wants to be, but is also content to curl up in a bed or a lap and be spoiled rotten.  His eyes shine brightly as if he knows that it's not about what's on the outside but what's on the inside that counts.  

The vet estimates him to be about 7 years old, and for a dog this small, that's not considered very old at all!
