Lynnie needs a gentle, loving, and understanding home if ever a dog did.  We wish we knew more about her past, but it was probably less than ideal.  She was a stray on the run for weeks on the south side of Youngstown, evading capture until she was ultimately hit by a car.  One of her rear legs was broken in several places and had to be removed as a result.  But the good news is, she gets around just fine, thank you very much!  She goes in and out of the double-flapped dog door in her foster home as easily as any of her four-legged cohorts. She loves, loves, loves to sit out in the porch and watch the world go by.

Inside, she’s a good girl, too.  She gets crated when her foster mom is away, and usually can’t get to her crate fast enough in anticipation of a yummy treat!  She’s housebroken, and sleeps on a dog pillow next to her foster mom’s bed at night.

Lynnie is wicked smart - she learned how to use that dog door much more quickly and easily than most other foster dogs.  And speaking of other dogs - she loves them!  She has even gotten her foster brother (dog, not human) to exhibit play behavior for the first time ever.  No other foster dog has been able to do that.  Lynnie’s would really benefit from having a happy, confident dog sibling in her forever home.

Her challenges are that she gets very afraid in the car, and sometimes has accidents there.  She also has gotten car sick.  We’re not sure if that’s because her tummy gets all upset because of the fear part of it or if it’s a separate thing due to the motion.  Her foster mom is working on this.

She also will bark at sudden movements and noises.  It’s not a continuous barking; she stops right away, and also appears to feel very sorry for having barked at things that shouldn’t have prompted it, and even will self-discipline herself by going to her room and laying in her pillow.  We suspect she was harshly scolded or worse by her previous owner and we don’t ever want her to fear such repercussions again.

We can see hesitation in her when it comes to asking for affection.  We suspect it may be because she wasn’t treated well by her precious owners.  It’s almost like she craves being loved but doesn’t think she’s worthy of it.

Well, we sure think she is, and we are hoping to find her a new human or two who will think so too!

Lynnie is all or mostly poodle, and will need regular trips to the groomer.  Potential adopters should be prepared for that additional expense.  We’re looking forward to her first grooming session since she’s been with us which will happen soon!
