HB 14 Passes! -- Tuesday January 31st, 2012

Ohio HB-14, a law which removes the specific mention of Pit Bulls and mixes from the existing vicious dog legislation, passed the state senate and awaits the governor's signature to become the new law of the land.  Now our pounds and shelters can adopt out one of these dogs (or dogs who resemble them) without the potential adopter showing proof of insurance, having a fenced yard, and other hard-to-meet criteria.  These dogs will not have to sit as long in cages or kennels awaiting weeks, months, or longer to be adopted or face even more dire consequences when a home is not found soon enough.  For more information, including a copy of the bill and which state senators voted for or against, go to http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=129_HB_14

Holiday Donation! -- Friday December 23rd, 2011

The ladies of the Portage County Jobs and Family Services collected a sleighful of donations for Rose's Rescue over the holiday.  They also posted pictures of our adoptable pets throughout their office in hopes that someone might notice them and give them a forever home.  Rose's Rescue is grateful for their efforts and would like to thank these wonderful "elves" on behalf or all of our rescued friends in need!

Santa Pics - SUCCESS! -- Sunday December 18th, 2011

Our annual Pet Pictures with Santa event was a great success!  Thank you to Pet Smart in Aurora for hosting us for both weekends and providing a wonderful opportunity to raise funds for our rescued friends.  Many of our volunteers worked multiple shifts in order to cover four entire days (during the busy holiday season, no less!) of handling pictures, people, dogs, not to mention a few other non-canine subjects.  A special shout out to "Santa John" who patiently posed hour after hour with furry friends of all sorts, and to Carla W. who coordinates our PetSmart events.

A huge thank you to Crestwood student group G.A.I.N. (Giving to Animals In Need) for their wonderful donation!  The group, formed by students Angela Spencer, Brandon Houpt, and Jarupat Kannula, decided to make RR their class project after Angela learned about us from her veterinarian.  Web Image: GAIN Students present check

Here are Brandon and Angela (holding her rescued pooch Teddy) presenting their check to volunteers John "Santa" Flint and Carla Weber at a recent PetSmart event.
